Affliction and Golden Boy change their minds again

I know at this point that most of you put what Tom Atencio says up there on the trust-o-meter with a magic 8-ball or Miss Cleo, but I thought I’d pass along his latest claim: that mma/boxing plan is scrapped, and now the first Golden Boy / Affliction card will be 100% MMA:

Contrary to expectations of a dual sport event put forward by the MMA and boxing promotional companies, Affliction vice president Tom Atencio told that the debut effort, set for sometime in January 2009, won’t mingle both combat sports.

Said Atencio, the partnership, which calls for quarterly events next year, is still a work in progress, though Golden Boy will heavily influence television and in-arena production.

Golden Boy “knows production,” Atencio said. “They know the whole back-end. They can run a smoother event.”

At this point I really have to say something: IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE FUCKING DOING, DON’T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. This event has been morphing from one thing to another without stop for the past few weeks. Take a lesson from the stock market: nobody likes uncertainty. And by announcing sweeping changes every day, that’s exactly what Atencio is creating.

The fact that shit has gone from one idea to another to another makes me think no one knew what the fuck the plan was when they started working together. And how is this partnership supposed to be successful when you go into it without even knowing what you’re trying to accomplish?
