Considering the fact that Affliction Entertainment VP Tom Atencio will soon be out of a job, he’s doing the smart thing and looking for new means of gainful employment. The only problem is that the profession he’s going back to doesn’t have the type of shelf-life for 42 year old men that would allow him a steady paycheck. From MMA Fanhouse:
Affliction Entertainment VP Tom Atencio is stepping back into a mixed martial arts cage. However, surprisingly, he will not be competing on an Affliction pay-per-view telecast.
Atencio has agreed to compete on the upcoming June 27 MMA pay-per-view show at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, Miss.
“I think (the fight will be contested at) 160, maybe 155. Not sure I can make 155 at 42 years old,” [said Atencio.]
This is also the same card that is set to feature Bob Sapp vs. Bobby Lashley for the Giant Bald Black Guy championship of the world. Basically, this is going to be the best thing to happen in MMA since midget fights.
Maybe this is the warm-up fight Tito has been talking about before he gets in there with Babalu. After all, Tito was all set to box another fight promoter in Dana White just a few years back — before the shit hit the fan. I for one think Tito vs. Tom would be a fun match-up. It doesn’t matter who wins the thing as long as one of them gets punched in the neck during the fight and loses the ability to speak. If God exists, he will make that happen. If not, you can chalk up all those childhood handjobs you gave to Father Jim up to a loss.
