Despite it’s 3am timeslot, Strikeforce’s weekly show on NBC continues to be a hit with the highly valued meth-head demographic. Last weekend’s show was a big knockouts special, and this week they’re focusing on Cung Le:
The special, 30-minute program, devoted entirely to the one-of-a-kind knockout artist, will showcase Le’s stoppages of Mike Altman and “Mr. Unbreakable” Brian Warren and will revisit his crushing knockouts of “The Ultimate Fighter” season three veteran, Sam “The Squeeze” Morgan, and Tony “The Freak” Fryklund.
Also included in the show is a feature segment that touches on the personal life of Le, who fled a war-torn Vietnam, just days before the fall of Saigon, as a baby in his mother’s arms in 1975.
It’s interesting that Strikeforce is dedicating a show to a dude that has basically said there’s a very slim chance of him fighting in 2009. But I guess when you’re small like Strikeforce you don’t fuck around … entertaining content goes in your show regardless of any personal or business issues between fighters and management. Sometimes I forget this is how most businesses operate … we’ve kinda been trained by the UFC to think cut throat business tactics are the norm.
Still, I’m gonna be watching this show very closely. There’s always been something fishy about Cung Le, especially with his fight against Tony Fryklund. It will be interesting to watch it again and see what I think. I’m not the kind of person to call a fix on fights without proof, but basically I’m asking you guys to check it out (meth optional) and tell me what you think.
