Bellator has WMMA too

Speaking of girl fights, Bellator’s own lone female champion is back.  Strawweight queen Zoila Gurgel sat on the shelf for most of 2011-2012, but is apparently determined to make up for lost time (and money) by fighting again tonight after a mere 6-week break.  It’ll be her third non-title flyweight match in a row, which makes one question the purpose of her belt, but at least this time she’s on the main card and has a legit opponent in Jessica “Evil” Eye (8-1).  The last two scrubs had losing records, yet Zoila still needed the scorecards to beat them, as she has in her last 5 fights in a row.  That’s no way to get yourself noticed when you’re competing for eyeballs against arm-snappin’ badasses like Ronda Rousey.

In the main event, Shahbulat “Shamwow” Shamhalaev (11-1-1) tries for his third 1st-round knockout in a row against the tough-as-nails “Totally” Rad Martinez (14-2) in this season’s featherweight final.  Plus, Bellator continues its recent trend of giving softball matches to their “name” fighters, as former bantamweight champ Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky faces some dude who’s lost two of his three Bellator appearances.  You may or may not want to miss this stuff, folks.
