Bellator’s 115 pound semi-finals are tonight

The WEC ain’t the only great MMA going on tonight. The other, other little fighters, aka women, will be stealing the show at Bellator tonight, which is pretty impressive when you consider the fact that the card also includes former UFC prospect Yoshiyuki Yoshida and reconciled Bellator signee Dave ‘Pee Wee’ Herman (although the fact that he’s on the undercard now is a bit strange).

Here’s the full card:

  • Megumi Fujii vs. Lisa Ward (115 pound tournament semi-final match)
  • Zoila Frausto vs. Jessica Aguilar (115 pound tournament semi-final match)
  • Chris Lozano vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida
  • Mark Holata vs. Shawn Jordan
  • John Harris vs. Kyle Miers
  • Tim Ruberg vs. Aaron Davis
  • Dave Herman vs. Michal Kita
  • Scott Stapp vs. Mike Chandler

A big part of the fun is going to be seeing Megumi Fujii compete again. She’s 21-0 and hasn’t gone to decision since 2007. She’s basically expected to route the entire tournament, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun watching her sub out Lisa Ward again.

On the other side of the bracket is Zoila Frausto aka the Warrior Princess who I’ve been a fan of since her days on ShoMMA. You’d think since Sho and Strikeforce have been on the hunt for another Gina Carano they’d have kept a closer eye on Zoila but instead they ditched her after her loss to Meisha Tate. Their loss is Bellator’s gain … and Zoila’s loss as in weight loss since she really shouldn’t be competing at 115 pounds. She’s facing Jessica Aguilar, who ain’t gonna get featured in a Spank Tank any time soon but can totally whup some ass.

Figuring out what time the event is at takes a bit of advanced Fox Sports affiliate knowledge and a good grasp of timezones, but 8PM seems to be the time it should be on. Unless there’s baseball, hockey, softball, darts, purebreeder’s cup dogracing, or any other sport Fox decides it’s gonna preempt you with.

my dvr is working overtime tonight,

While I will be rooting for Zoila and Fujii, i will be happy just to see some high level female mixed martial arts.

Jaguilar may not be a looker but I find her candor and love for fighting Roxy-esque, I can see her being a female commentator in the future.

Bellator has been terrible this season.

    Hopefully this show won’t suck.
