If you might remember, last week there was an interesting discussion going on about the Fight Network, and how it was basically being run into the ground by some very stupid executives. This is a theme that seems to be playing out a lot in the MMA world and beyond nowadays. We pointed out how ProElite bought a bunch of profitable MMA promotions and managed to run most of them into insolvency. And now the people in charge of The Fight Network have taken a hot and promising channel and ripped it’s guts out. Just great.
The latest blow to the Fight Network is Big John McCarthy leaving. He was the ‘Fight Network Ambassador’, although he wasn’t being completely ambassador-like in his parting column. The majority of the article gives props to the people John did like: Mike Garrow, Mauro Renallo, John Pollock, John Ramdeen, Chris Tapanila, Chad Midgley, and Anthony Ciccone. I guess the rest of you peeps there can consider yourself unliked. Here’s the not so nice shit he managed to slip in:
Well this is my farewell from the Fight Network. While I will not miss what has happened or transpired at the company, I am really going to miss some very special people that I have come to know and respect in my short time with them.
To all of the higher ups that have taken over the Fight Network over the last year I only have this to say………….. Shame on you………………
That’s a lot of periods, Mr McCarthy! For someone who has been very careful about talking shit, these are some pretty strong words.
