The Low Blow returns this week with another jam packed episode of fight discussion and news hyperventilation. Derek and I go all over the board on this one, talking about Chael Sonnen getting a fight with Jon Jones, whether this can save TUF, and of course if the fight has turned mixed martial arts into the world wrestling federation. All those superfights we ain’t ever gonna get come up, and I make an argument directly from my pocketbook as to why I wish they would. Carlos Condit’s gameplan against Georges St Pierre, steroids and that Victor Conte douchebag, plus a dozen other things all in this one hour show!
This episode is brought to you by the fine people at Betfair, one of the most unique sportsbooks we’ve encountered over the years. Check them out and maybe give them a try if you’re interested in gambling on human cockfighting. They take Canadians!
This week on a very special Low Blow, Jake returns to co-host the show and discuss his life threatening herpes affliction and what you can do to avoid a similar fate. Har har just kidding. But not about the VERY SPECIAL LOW BLOW part! Because on this episode, we also have Tapped Out author and October’s guest blogger for the month Matthew Polly joining us to talk about a whole bunch of general UFC topics. What he saw in the MMA supercamps he visited and how it applies to the amount of injuries we’re seeing now, the difficulties the UFC is currently facing with ratings and ticket sales, and the advantages and disadvantages of having an MMA Caesar like Dana White running things. The death of Strikeforce is also discussed and we touch on Mayhem Miller’s slow descent into madness.
All this in 72 minutes of podcast discussion, so feel free to burn that on a CD-R for your discman. Apologies for the quality on my mic, apparently my laptop’s soundcard is made out of the technological equivalent of horse hooves and pig anus. Everyone else sounds great though.

This week on the Low Blow, a very hung over Ryan discusses UFC Struve vs Miocic with Derek. Is Stefan Struve getting too much love, or too little? Is there really a Dan Hardy 2.0 or is it all in our imaginations? And of course, we give a little love to the stars of the undercard, Gunnar Nelson and Jimi Manuva. Also touched on: the lack of Strikeforce over the weekend, and next week’s chock full MMA extravaganza including UFC Browne vs Bigfoot, ONE FC 6, and Invicta FC 3. One hour of podcasty goodness.

Yes, it is another episode of the Low Blow! Derek and Ryan return to discuss UFC 152 and all the madness that came out of it. The magical new hole in Jon Jones’ game, his absolute dominance in all other areas, and how Vitor Belfort came out of this fight looking pretty damn good. TJ Grant as a potential Big Deal in Canada, Michael Bisping on the cusp of being the same again in the UK, and of course this Magalhaes and his sweet sweet jiu jitsu stylings. All this and more in today’s 45 minute podcast.

Yes, all yous people harassing me have finally won: the Low Blow is back and will be resuming on a weekly basis! This week Derek and Ryan talk about the new season of TUF, the series’ place in the sport, and it’s international editions. From there we get onto Lorenzo Fertitta’s pet India project and how we expect that to pan out.
There was also some big news last week as the UFC reshuffled UFC 153 and after having a few days to digest all the changes we find ourselves about as satisfied as you can expect considering the never ending bad luck the UFC has faced over the past year. The pros, the cons, and the reason why so many people are pissed about getting an extra Anderson Silva fight are all discussed.
Last but not least we break down the main card of UFC 152 and who we think is going to win. Where Vitor Belfort has some advantages, why Ryan thinks the flyweight belt probably shouldn’t even exist, and more deep thoughts cooked into this 80 minute show. Download it here.
The podcast returns and Jake with it! He helps me break down a few of the UFC 148 fights, the international fight week surrounding it, and everything going on with the UFC and MMA in general. As usual it’s all over the place stupidity, but that’s what you jackals seem to enjoy so I hope it lives up to any expectations you might have.
The podcast will be back on a regular basis very soon, but not with Jake as a regular co-host. He’s busy in Calgary with The Good Atheist, and is currently running a kickstarter to raise the funds to help write his first book, Bible Stories. Check that out and throw him a few bucks if your bed full of money and bitches has a few lumps you wanna get rid of.
