This week on the Low Blow, Ryan and Derek discuss the freshly rumored Ronda Rousey vs Miesha Tate fight, and the Strikeforce card coming up this weekend. There’s also the standard moaning and bitching about existential Strikeforce issues before we roll into UFC 141 and kinda nibble at various topics and matches from that card. Brock Lesnar retiring, Brock Lesnar not being able to take a shot, and Brock Lesnar blah bleh blah bloo blarg. Last but not least Derek talks about having to drink his own urine because Donald Cerrone got Diaz’d. One hour and fifteen minutes o’ podcast fresh from the oven.
We have Derek Suboticki in the house to break down the state of MMA as it stands today. Starting out with Strikeforce, we take a look at what the future holds for the promotion, it’s stars, the women’s divisions, and Cris Cyborg. The Melendez / Masvidal event gets disected and critiqued, and we look at the very long list of things that could be done better.
Then it’s onto UFC 141 – Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem, their less than satisfactory random drug testing, who we think will win and who we want to win. Nate Diaz vs Cowboy Cerrone is declared fight of the night before it even happens, and we wonder if spreading talent too thin has resulted in undercards no one gives a shit about. Before wrapping it up we talk about the UFC’s continued fight against piracy including Lorenzo Fertitta’s support of SOPA and what the UFC needs to do to successfully transition into the Internet Age.
Many names are mangled and mispronounced in this 90 minute episode, perfect for listening to on your way home for Christmas.
This week on the Low Blow we break down the UFC on Versus 6 card, starting off with those dumbass Yamasaki brothers and then moving onto the title fight between Dominick Cruz and Demetrious Johnson. From there it’s onto Pat Barry vs Stefan Struve, and why it’s a good thing that the days of insta-cuts are now over. Prelim highlights, future contenders, and all that. Then it’s onto UFC 136 and our thoughts of the main card plus the Spike prelims. Lots of good stuff a gawn on with this 90 minute show, so chekkit.
This week on the Low Blow, we break down UFC 135 and of course our victory over Five Ounces of Pain before rolling into a big bag of reader mail. The Gracies, Rashad vs Bones, getting credentialed by the UFC, and Why we suck are all discussed. Japan, chat moderators, and cheating wives also get some attention in this 1hr45min extravaganza of MMA chit chattery.
This week on the Low Blow we talk about our youtube video being dickishly deleted by youtube, Dana White’s latest anti-piracy tweets, and Alistair Overeem leaving Golden Glory. The Battle on the Bayou gets dissected (including some prelim action since the prelims were better than the actual event), and UFC 135 predictions are made! The Fightlinker vs Five Ounces bet is discussed further, and we ponder why the movie Warrior didn’t make more moneys. Two hours. Two goddamn hours of podcasting.
This week on the Low Blow we sorta reminisce over our five years of Fightlinkery goodness and update everyone on our bet with the Five Ounces of Pain guys. The MMA movie Warrior gets a review, and we finally voice our thoughts on Nick Diaz blowing his title fight with Georges St Pierre. Our weekend wrapup covers the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix and beyond, plus we talk a little bit about the Battle on the Bayou set for this Saturday. One hour and forty five minutes of podcasting!
