The war of words between Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen is far from over, as the two rivals don’t square off until late May.
Silva and Sonnen were coaches on the recently-completed season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. The reality series will air on UFC Fight Pass soon, and includes a moment where the two coaches had to be separated after an altercation.
- On the incident with Sonnen:
“That was the worst program,” Silva said. “I even talk to the staff did not do this or that, but took me off sometimes. So I apologized to the staff, but I;m not blood of cockroach. There are things that you can not endure. The chief (Dana White) was neutral, he likes the fair, then neither got angry.
“When passing, the staff will see that deep down I was right. I did what everyone wanted to do.”
-Sonnen’s usage of TRT:
“If he needs must us, do what? I said to use, but my wife retorted, ‘Negative, if you use, I separate myself.’ It is said that he (Sonnen) just have a ball. If so, you must use if you are withered.”
-A future meeting with Vitor Belfort:
Silva and Belfort were coaches on the first season of TUF and were slated to meet before an injury to “The Phenom” canceled the fight. Belfort has now gone on to become the No. 1 contender at middleweight.
“Everything depends on this fight now,” Silva said. “I’m at a time in my career that live next fight. The last I fought (vs. Brian Stann) was very good against a guy who was considered a favorite and did well.”
-Extended time off between fights:
“I think it’s good for me,” he said. “I had a long time to recover, to get back to training now. One must be careful during training not to hurt me. Training both, I think it’s never good and can end up hurting me. But I will take care not to have any injuries.”
