Chael’s manager wants a do-over

Just when you thought the Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen saga was all wrapped up with a nice little bow, Chael’s manager Mike Roberts throws out this declaration:

“Chael’s not the kind of guy who likes to complain after a fight. [whaaaaaa? – FL] I felt I needed to take this action to protect him. At the point of impact, Anderson had his hand locked in the cage and his feet left the ground. We believe his intentions were clear.

“We started the process of filing a complaint with the Nevada Athletic Commission. We believe the knee that Anderson Silva threw was illegal with the clear intent to strike the face. And it did in fact connect with the face. Chael bit his tongue and needed eight stitches.

“What I’m going to do is change my tactic. We’re going to ask for a rematch. We deserve a rematch. If the only way Anderson Silva can win is by cheating, we need to keep a closer eye on Silva before and during a fight. And we need a rematch now. Legal knee or illegal knee, there’s enough doubt with all the fouls to warrant a rematch.”

Except that WAS the rematch. And the knee clearly hit Chael square in the chest, not his face. This kind of whining doesn’t do anybody any good. Not the sport, not the fans, and not Chael Sonnen, who managed to show off an impressive amount of class following his loss. But let’s just throw that away and do it all over again because Chael’s manager wants his % on another mega fight. Jesus, this makes me mad enough I kinda hope Sonnen does retire.

I’m only surprised that the complaints and excuses didn’t start as soon the ref stepped in…

Anderson “meant to” commit a foul and then the most accomplished MMA striker ever just accidentally missed Chael Sonnen’s still head and hit him in the chest. Nevermind that “intending to foul someone” is not grounds for overruling a fight result. Yeah, this is going nowhere at all.

If in fact, “Chael bit his tongue and needed eight stitches.” that might be the most perfect poetic justice I’ve ever heard.

Even though the knee definitely socked Sonnen in his chest,
the thigh above the knee does seem like it hit his chin also.

It seems kind of like if I punched you in the face and kicked you in the balls at the same time,
and then said  that kicking you in the balls didn’t matter because I punched you in the face.

But no, I dont want to see it again.

Chael is the one who got himself into that position with that stupid spinning fist.

And I’m tired of flamderson bullshitting thhrough his whole career in an empty division fighting Chael Sonnen for the last 2 years.

Make that son of a bitch fight somebody that matters.

    Shad or Hendo.
Shit I’d rather see Munoz then Chael/silva again.

    That cover is pure irony.

  • drunkenjunk

you should stop with the horrible analysis flop.

  • voice of reason

sonnen = better version of munoz. yeah munoz got more power but chael and hendo are prob the only guys who can keep silva down. so munoz v silva = fail. Don’t forget he got headkicked by fking HAMILL. silva will do worst shit to him.
hate him or love him, chael’s the only challenge to silva in mw. and without the stupid spinningfist who knows what would’ve happened
of course credit to silva’s striking, he only needs 1 opening to finish the fight

He probably bit his tongue with he flopped on his ass from the failed spinning back fist,  that is why he sat there already looking hurt and didn’t get up like a normal wrestler would of..

  • fishead

probably bit his tongue to defend himself from saying anything too stupid during the post-fight interviews…
