There was a whole bunch of politikin’ going on in the US of A yesterday and aside from North Carolina deciding to outlaw homo love in their state constitution, Indiana also decided they didn’t want no cage fighter in their senate. Former UFC fighter Chris Lytle failed to win his disctrict election, although I gotta give him credit for doing better than I thought he would:
According to official Indiana results, the winner, Mike Crider, finished with 7,200 votes, Lytle received 5,271 votes, while John Merlau had the support of 5,069.
Considering his political videos were made by Bobby Razak of Tapout Films fame, that’s pretty damn good. I am also intruiged by the fact that it only takes 7,200 votes to win a seat in the Indiana State Senate. How much do you get paid for that job?
Indiana legislators make a base annual salary of $22,616, plus $155 for each day in session or at a committee hearing and $62 in expense pay every other day.
During odd-numbered years the legislature meets for 61 days (not necessarily consecutively) and must be adjourned by April 30. During even-numbered years the legislature meets for 30 days (not necessarily consecutively) and must be adjourned by March 15.
Yes, because that makes sense.
