Cung Le is always talking about his busy acting schedule, which I found interesting considering he’s only had small roles in two movies since 2010. Now he finally gets to stand center stage again in the movie Dragon Eyes, co-starring Jean Claude Van Damme:
St. Jude Square is a neighborhood living in fear and despair. The dueling gangs of local kingpins Dash and Antuan terrorize the streets and the citizens live without a shred of hope… until mysterious stranger Ryan Hong (Cung Le) arrives in town. He begins to play one gang against the other using his unparalleled martial arts skills, and by calling on the teachings of his brilliant mentor Tiano (Jean-Claude Van Damme) to find the strength to battle back. However, just as he begins to bring the community under control, Hong is confronted by Mr. V, the town’s ruthless and corrupt police chief.
Hmmm, sounds like JCVD may exist only in prison flashbacks where he teaches Cung everything he ever needed to know about being the dragon something something. Which seems pretty far fetched to me. My understanding of prison is the inmates don’t fight you to help you become a kung fu master, they do it to claim ownership of your dragon cave.
Dragon Eyes comes out April 9th on DVD – the perfect warm-up to get you ready for Cung Le vs Rich Franklin in July.
