Dan Henderson: “Please, Silva, I want some more!”

I love it … guys get whupped so badly by Anderson Silva that they can’t even comprehend what happened months later. It’s like they’ve rationalized their losses by saying “Oh, I must have been off that night” or “It was that one thing he caught me with, next time it will be different”. As far as I can tell, Rich Franklin is the only one admitting that Silva beat him fair and square once, twice, and would do it 50 more times if given the chance. Past that you’ve got Nate Marquardt, Travis Lutter, and now Dan Henderson all clamoring for another shot:

Henderson discussed what he felt it would take to get a second crack at “The Spider” while a guest on of TAGG Radio (, the official radio partner of (

“I told [UFC officials] I was open to anything but to keep in mind that I wanted someone who would get me another shot at Anderson Silva,” Henderson said.

It appears that the first obstacle for Henderson will be up-and-coming middleweight Rousimar Palhares (8-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC). And while “Hollywood” could not confirm the rumored bout for UFC 88 in Atlanta, he indicated it was a strong possibility.

“That’s what the rumor is,” Henderson clarified. “They say I can’t talk about it yet.”

The Temecula, Calif.-based fighter admits that beating a relative newcomer to the octagon may not be the fastest road to another title shot.

“[The UFC] got the weight class right, but I am not sure if [Palhares] is the right guy to get me another title shot right away,” he said.

I know fighters have to do some pretty nifty brain gymnastics to get around the knowledge that there’s a dude out there who’s just waaaaaay better than you. But I have to wonder if Anderson Silva beat Dan Henderson so bad that he can’t even remember how their first fight went. And whenever Dan sits down to watch the replay he goes all limp and shit like he’s having a stroke.

Hes delusionnal. But if the UFC is ready to make that fight happen again more power to him. For one id love to see him get manhandled one more time by The Spider. And why not throw Marquardt at him right after. Or at the same time !

  • smoogleton

Um, Henderson won the first round and then got subbed while he was groggy in the 2nd. What fight were you watching?

  • Echolocating

I thought Dan had a good chance against Silva and would like to see them fight again. Anderson Silva won, but that’s the first time I’ve seen him lose a round. That said, It’s probably Okami’s turn to be humiliated next though.

  • fightlinker

Yeah he got groggy in the second because he was sleepy.

  • tertio

personnally i was watching a fight where Silva destroyed Henderson standing up and on the ground.

I think that submiting a groggy (as in dazed caused he got punched hard enough on the face) fighter qualified as a legitimate ass beating….no?

  • Hanzo Hattori

I think he takes two helpings of A-Bomb to admit the man is god.

Didn’t Hendo win the 1st round?
Hendo man handled Anderson the 1st round, so I really dont believe Anderson is waaaaaaaaay better like monkey boy states he is.

  • scorchamatic

hendo owned anderson in the first round….no one in the spider’s history in the ufc has been able to come close to dominating him in such a manner. hendo got a little too aggressive in the second round and got pwnt by a better fighter…..but to say hendo’s somehow naive in asking for a rematch is disrepectful and fucking stupid. clean your act up, fuckers.

  • MrNiceGuyMMA

Hendo did win the first round. But lost the fight. He needs to fight at least 3 people before getting another shot.

  • SmartAss

I dont think Anderson is waay better than Hendo, not at all. To me Dan didnt look that hurt after exchange with Silva, he took more punishment in his other fights. But I was surprised (and kinda disappointed) that he got choked so easily… I believe Dan has a good chance in the rematch though. He just needs to score 2 wins first.

  • fightlinker

Hendo held Silva down and played patty-cake on his head for 5 minutes. Silva whupped Hendo across the octagon for 5 minutes. If you want to score the effectiveness of each guy’s performance in the fight i’d put it at Hendo: 20 / Silva: 200

Just because he won one round doesn’t mean he ever came remotely close to finishing the fight.

  • DannyP72

If Hendo fought him again, I would pick him again because hopefully he wouldn’t fight with a retarded gameplan of ‘throw bombs’ when he gets punched once.

  • jakey

loved it when Silva was just chewin gum between the rounds, stood up put his gumshield in like lets get this done……. and hendo was like “man I’m fuckin tired”

  • Crank

Let em do it again. In that division, in UFC, who is exciting for him?? He trounced Franklin twice.. They mine as well let Hendo get it twice as well. Then A. Silva can go get his big payday vs. Roy Jones. Only that will be embarrassing for Silva. He will get worked.. Stick to MMA.. And if the UFC and MMA is kicking boxings’ ass, why are the paydays so disparate?? I am not hating on MMA. I am just wondering why still the big disparity?? I dont think the UFC is doing a good job exploiting A. Silvas’ talents…
