Dana White has been a busy boy lately, talking to every media outlet that approaches him about any topic under the sun. Rather than chop his mighty oak of information up into smaller logs that will fuel site content for several days, we’re instead cramming all the interesting things he said into one post. First off, here’s Dana on testosterone replacement therapy:
“On this flip side, this is legal. This you can do. Testosterone replacement therapy is something you can do and it’s for guys whose testosterone is too low, but here’s what you’re supposed to do. You’re supposed to get your levels to that of a normal guy your age and if you’re even that much over, now it becomes illegal. So again, it’s based on what’s legal and what’s not legal. That is legal, marijuana is not legal.”
“But as far as me having a … I actually think that it’s good. Obviously it’s bad that these guys abused steroids earlier in their career. That’s what’s so terrible. Amongst all the other things that you find out what’s good and what’s bad about using steroids: these young, talented guys who are full of testosterone already, go in and start abusing these drugs. Now when you get up to your late 20′s, which should be your prime, early 30′s, now your all screwed up because your off the steroids and now you’ve destroyed your system forever where you can’t produce testosterone.”
“These guys, they now have medicine where they can replace it and get it back to normal levels. Which is good … but we wanna stop guys from taking steroids when they’re young. You shouldnt take them. It’s bad. No matter what short term effects you have, the long term effects are a lot worse. Just … it’s stupid. And that’s what we’re trying to stop right now. But testosterone replacement therapy is legal.”
How whack is that. TRT is possibly the most epic loophole in the history of performance enhancing drugs and Dana White thinks it’s good. This whole situation is a PR nightmare that could explode at any moment and potentially cripple the sport in the process, and Dana White thinks it’s good! More apoplectic rage on the subject over at FightOpinion, and tons more of what Dana said after the jump.
Dana on that plan to sue fans who stream PPVs:
“I respond to people every day on Twitter, like, ‘F*ck you, you criminal. Yeah, we’re coming after you,'” White said. “Oh, boo hoo. ‘You’re coming after the fans.’ Yeah, you’re f*cking stealing.”
“If you steal our sh*t, we’re going to get you. We might not get you now or next month, but eventually we will, and we’re spending a lot of money toward busting people who steal.”
“I don’t smoke weed. It’s not my thing. It’s illegal; you can’t do it. I can’t present an argument for why (Nick Diaz) should be cool to have marijuana in his system.”
“I think if he retired it would be the most insane thing I’ve ever seen in my life. The kid is right now at the pinnacle of his career as far as his talent goes, as far as being a well rounded fighter.”
“I’ve encouraged him to shave his face and cut his hair, too, but he doesn’t want to listen to that, either, so whatever,” he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
“It was actually 12 (million). I’m happy,” White said about the ratings of the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter Brasil.
“I don’t know if you saw this but another channel, another channel we were talking to, then went out and said these are the finalists in The Ultimate Fighter, and tried to like sabotage the whole show. The crazy thing is if you went out and did that, you think you’re hurting the UFC? You think you’re hurting Globo? Globo’s the top network in the country. You’re hurting the kids, the contestants of the show. That’s who you’re hurting, the guys in the competition,” said White. “That’s some dirty, dirty, Josh Gross dirty type (expletive). You know what I mean?”
“Just to squash that whole thing, FOX never – the guy that was in his ear telling him to chill out, that was Bruce Connal, the guy who’s our guy,” White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). “But the guy in the truck from FOX was saying, ‘Oh my God, he’s [expletive] screaming.’ They said the same thing to me. They’re like, ‘He’s screaming at our fans.’ That’s what we do. We scream at you. We yell at you. That’s not going to change.”
“Not even a little bit,” White told told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) when asked if Emelianenko was at least on his radar.
“That was a guy who was made an incredible offer, and they laughed at it,” White said. “They aren’t laughing now.”
