I knew it was a bad sign when Dana White didn’t do his standard “Best TUF fights ever” song and dance before the beginning of this season. It’s practically a ritual for him, and it’s pretty much never true as most fights over the past 4 seasons have been overcautious nothing-fests between guys trying not to get hurt. The fact that this season was heavyweights already made me nervous – nothing sucks worse than a bad heavyweight fight – and the lack of loving fight affirmation from White had me sure that every fight this season is gonna look like the first three: TERRIBLE. But hold on!
White wasn’t impressed by Nelson’s performance in stopping Slice and hasn’t been pleased with the fights in any of the first three weeks. But he said that will change for the better soon.
“It’s a really good season,” White said. “The fight (between Slice and Nelson) sucked. I wasn’t happy with any of the fights the first three weeks, to be honest. I was disappointed by the way we came out of the gate in terms of the fights. But the fights really get better. By episode 8, believe me when I tell you, you’re going to be going wild.”
Of course, this is also the guy who just hyped the shit out of Kimbo’s last shit stain of a fight and is also so drunk off TUF’s amazing ratings that I wouldn’t trust a fucking word that comes out of his mouth right now.
