Dana White media scrummed it up in LA today and amongst 1001 other topics, he threw cold water on the possibility of an Anderson Silva / Nick Diaz fight:
“Nick Diaz makes no sense. Okay? I know that sounds fun. “Yeah, throw Nick Diaz in there!” If you really look at the thing, Nick Diaz just lost to Condit at 170, so that gives him the opportunity to move up to 185 and fight the pound for pound best fighter in the world? In what fucking universe does that make sense?”
A universe where the opportunity to make a big awesome fight isn’t passed up because of a single loss? A loss that was Nick’s first in four years? Via controversial decision, no less? This seems so silly to me. Nick vs GSP makes sense! Nick could beat GSP! But Nick vs Anderson? What, are you from the Retard Nebula or something??? At least there was this silver lining:
If you were really going to make a fight like that, it would make more sense with Georges St Pierre than it would with Diaz.
He followed that up by saying they might sit Silva out until after Georges’ fight with Condit so they can set that up. Well, isn’t it nice that they’re thinking about possibly putting that superfight everyone wants together. In a way that could result in no Silva until 2013, but I’ve already accepted the fact that he isn’t going to be a regular rotation fighter any more. He’s made enough of that sweet, sweet Anderson Silva money that he can do whatever he wants.
