I’ve been hearing A LOT of dumbassing bitching around the intertubes that as of late Zuffa has been putting on too many PPV’s that don’t include title fights.  So, as always, I did a bunch of pointless research that will later be ridiculous as meaningless (this actually sounds eerily similiar to my entire protracted post secondary education….) and this is what my mind-brain puked out

Since the beginning of the Zuffa era (that’s 2001 for you worthless fucking Fox Noobs) the UFC has put on:

    5 PPV’s in 2001

    7 PPV’s in 2002

    5 PPV’s in 2003

    5 PPV’s in 2004

    6 PPV’s in 2005

    10 PPV’s in 2006

    11 PPV’s in 2007

    12 PPV’s in 2008

    13 PPV’s in 2009

    15 PPV’s in 2010

(on track to churn out) 16 PPV’s in 2011.

In order to make those numbers semi-relevant to all the pissing, moaning and acting like a punk bitch that’s going on, I looked up how many title fights were on PPV’s in each calendar year (free shows don’t count….dumbasses)

    2001: 10 title fights in 5 weight classes (0 PPV’s without a title fight)

    2002: 9 title fights in 5 weight classes (0 PPV’s without a title fight)

    2003: 7 titles fights in 4 weight classes (0 PPV’s without a title fight)

2004: 5 title fights in 3 weight classes (1 PPV without a title fight)

    2005: 9 title fights in 4 weight classes (0 PPV’s without a title fight)

2006: 10 title fights in 5 weight classes (1 PPV without a title fight)

    2007: 8 title fights in 5 weight classes (2 PPV’s without a title fight)

    2008: 11 title fights in 5 weight classes (2 PPV’s without a title fight)

    2009: 9 title fights in 5 weight classes (6 PPV’s without a title fight)

    2010: 10 title fights in 5 weight classes (7 PPV’s without a title fight)

    2011: 11 title fights in 7 weight classes (7 PPV’s without a title fight)

So what’s it all mean shit bird?

let’s be real. the numbers before 2006 (the first full year post TUF) don’t matter at all and I only put them up because research stuff is like mental masturbation to me.  that being said there is an obvious trend in ZUFFA’s booking practices that shows that they are trying to keep the number of title fights they charge for around 10 per year.  this coupled with the sharp rise in the amount of PPV’s they put on every year means that A) there will be a half dozen or so shitty PPV’s a year (don’t buy them then, moron) and B) with the new TV deal, and ZUFFA’s stated intention that they are going to scale back the number of PPV’s they put on in 2012, there will be title bouts on FREE TV next year. probably 3 or 4.  and that news, you stupid bastards, is as sexy as Camilla Davalos’ asshole (don;t you just want to choke her until her lips turn blue? maybe that’s just me…..)

as always questions and concerns can be directed to my customer service department

well this tweet just crushed my entire argument…..weaksauce

the reprecussions of it being that now almost every PPV will have to have a title fight on it.  which while lame for those of us looking forward to getting to see the two “best” fighters in their respective weight classes fight for free, will still stop people from bitching about lame main events
