Gate challenges for Strikeforce Challengers

Update on the Strikeforce Challengers ticket situation: sales haven’t been stellar since Zuffa moved the shows to the Pearl at the Palms in Vegas. The first show: 1876 attendees, with 458 tickets sold. The latest, second show: 1890 attendees, with 549 paid tickets. The official gate: $53,670, where the disclosed payroll for the event was $92,000.

Outlook: Not great.

    Predictable.

  • Reverend Clint

leave them in California or have them travel around… Vegas sucks for the small shows. No drunk casino goer wants to watch a bunch of nothing hump in a cage.

  • CAP

I thought only a drunk casino goer would be interested.

  • lukustra

CAP, all your comment shows is that you are a UFC fan and not an MMA fan. If those shows were in NJ I would go. If im willing to go watch amatures fight in the sloppiest fucking fights you can possibily imagine I’d be more then glad to watch half decent MMA live. “drunk casino goers” arent real MMA fans. Which is why you wouldnt expect many people to attend. They need to have the shows in areas where the sport is popular.. like Cali, NJ, and even Canada.

  • CAP

Yep. I’m officially spoiled. Too much MMA to watch so I have to prioritize what I take in. This is not high on my list. I don’t have time to watch everything. I’ll watch Bellator before a Challengers card. You bet your ass I would go though if I was in vegas and offered.

Don’t assume because you know how that goes. I’ve been to many a local MMA event to show support. And have spoken up about things outside the ufc to the narrow minded ultimate fighting fan. *cough* soobo *cough*

I now have a wife and kid so there is no way I can watch all the MMA that is on tv.

  • DJ ThunderElbows

I thought his comment shows he likes watching good martial artists and not every douchebag with faux-tribal tats and “warrior” in kanji on his arm.  I don’t even watch every UFC show.

Most of these guys are are not interesting to watch.

  • lukustra

I’d say I watch (almost) every UFC and I haven’t missed a Strikeforce card in forever. I watch HDnet on fridays if I’m home and whatever the fuck they put on that night including mma live. I don’t watch Bellator regularly just cuz UFC and Strikeforce fuck over enough of my Saturdays. And DJ, it depends what you mean by “good martial artists”. Many of the fighters in the UFC aren’t good MIXED martial artists, and many of them are just decent in every aspect of the sport, therefore canceling each other out, thus creating a dull fight. Exciting MMA is very different from good and technical superior quality mma. you can see exciting “mma” in your backyard.

  • lukustra

as real mma fans we can appreciate technical mma. but dont tell me you didnt wish every ufc card had a couple of nasty ko’s.

  • DJ ThunderElbows

Once you use the term “Real MMA fan,” I know you’re a schmuck who doesn’t give a shit that other people’s tastes might differ from your tastes.  Sorry broseph, I ‘m glad you enjoy Challengers or whathaveyou, but not everyone does.  Even if they’re MMA fans.

  • G Funk

Plus he wrapped up an entire reflection of CAP’s MMA dick off an amusing sentence. And he went through his whole unsolicited MMA watching repertoire But he’s from Joysee DJ, and you are the ranger who care’s for these animals.

  • DJ ThunderElbows

Naw, I can dig the kid, I just have a pet peeve for “Real [insert subject or scene] fan” declaring fuckwittery.

Seriously, Luka, double you tee eff?

  • CAP

    Just bleed bro.

  • lukustra

I amuse myself. but we are MMA fans. we read this blog daily for a reason. but I get what you’re saying. I hate when people associate mma fans and drunk casino goers in the same demographic because Zuffa puts on shows in Vegas. if i was hammered in Montreal and had nothing to do I wouldn’t go to a fucking hockey game just for shits and giggles.

  • glassjawsh

so far all lukustra has proven is that he has nothing better to than watch second rate mma. if that’s what makes someone a “real fan” I guess I’ve just been a poser these last 5 years

  • glassjawsh

and will continue to be one indefinitely

  • glassjawsh

and also that he doesn’t understand how awesome it is to be drunk at a hockey game
