Gettin’ real tired of your shit, Frankie Edgar

Let’s pretend we care about the future of featherweights for a second.  Frankie Edgar, freshly minted at 145 and on streak of 3 title losses, has decided he’s having none of that back-to-the-drawing board business and would like a 5 round main fight against Cub Swanson, please.  I liked “The Answer” (What was the question again?).  I loved him back when he gave BJ the what for.  But somewhere along the line –probably after the second Maynard fight – even I dimly realized “huh… not sure if trying to finish, or just hoping to eke out a decision.”

Barring a chance at Swanson, Frankie says he’ll take Dennis Siver, who’s been making 145 pretty damn fun to watch.  Hey.  Wait a second, there’s an idea.  Siver and Swanson… that’s the fight we were supposed to get for UFC on Fuel before Siver stepped out for mysterious reasons.  Has his reasons healed yet?  Can we get him back in the cage with someone other than Edgar?

There’s no doubt Edgar deserves to be in the mix again (eventually), but does he need to rejigger a couple of times with some three rounders?  Toy with the idea of making 135?  Look, Bendo’s gonna have his inevitable toothpick accident, Anthony Pettis wants to join the rest of the lightweight lemmings and drop down to 145 for Aldo, and Chan-Sung Jung and Ricardo Lamas are still in the mix, so Edgar is clearly (desperately) trying to find a relevant place near the top.

Thoughts?  Or should we just put him in the cage with Joe “The Honey Badger” Silva and see who really makes the matches?

    dude. just. no.

even for a website that made its name on videos about eating poop and articles mocking dead people, these new writers are embarrassing

Edgar is a victim of being in the right place int he right time. He caught BJ right when he was going down. He fought Maynard who cuts 50 pounds to fight and doesn’t know how to finish.

He’s not as good as people think he is, but he’s good.

Sick as a dog, but this was something I had to comment on – I agree.

Let’s see if he can take some three-rounders seriously before we have to sit through any more of his five-round test-eve cramming efforts.

I know it’s tough for me to kick shit into gear without pressure sometimes, and I’m a big Frankie fan, but this is getting ridiculous. If he doesn’t take the first three rounds of TITLE FIGHTS seriously, then fuck giving him five-rounds with no title on the line.

Now to see if this actually gets posted by the new spam system.

agree with kiki, franky is a point fighter that has made a record for himself my gaming the system. at least recently he spends the first 2 rounds getting beat up, then the next 3 trying to do ‘just enough’ to edge out the judges score cards.

I dont get all the franky love, he has heart and a chin… cool, but he spends all fights just pitter pattering to draw the nod from shitty judges

i just want his answer to be definitive and not left in the hands of half retards like Byrd

  • CAP

I already know the answer. It’s going to a decision.

I’m not sure Edgar is an intentional point fighter (like Cruz), he did KO Maynard after all. But decisions are what you tend to get from a stick-n-move style.
