Happy Hour: Technical Difficulties

Who knew that recording podcasts would be so difficult while one of us is in a borderline third world country? As you can probably tell, we’re having a hard time recording shows while Jake is in the Dominican Republic. We thought we had a system worked out that got us over the problems but we’re finding out it’s like Sex Panther: 60% of the time, it works all the time.

We’re trying something new tomorrow that involves going to a friend’s office which has the fastest internet you can get on the island. So we’re quite sure that should work and we’ll do it like that moving forward. So expect a new radio show sometime Friday afternoon and then back at it’s regularly scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon from then on.

For now, a slice of the fun we’ve been having getting things working.

    Jake’s rage is delicious.

How is jake even watching events down there, with all the tech difficulties isn’t subo a more reliable option?

  • subo

^ lol you sound lke Jim Florentine with strep throat, but it is a good radio voice.

I mean come the fuck on, we have had like 3 podcast this month & one of them was a clip show.

I appreciate the work ryan put into it but I got through about half of it, stopped and didn’t finish it until a week later.

We had virtually no post ufc 125 commentary past “it was a good event” which leads me to belive that jakes 3rd world dial up means he isn’t watching the fights.

Regardless if that is true or not I still want my two shows a week, if touring comedians with families and other gigs can do two shows a week, why can’t a guy with no kids, a cat and no day job do it.

I think it’s funny how Jake’s voice comes out better in the podcasts in a third world country, meanwhile in the center of the US I hear 8 out of ten words Sube-oh says. Please no Derek with his wi-fi coneection that he jacks from his neighbors. Plus the show with Derek sucks. There’s no funny man, Ryan steers the show while Sube-oh rambles on with serious MMA talk. Godawful, unless you’re Blacula who eat and breathes serious MMA discussions.

Are you guys trying to Skype with video or audio-only?

Maybe you should just buy some cheap phone cards and do it the old-fashioned way.

I can appreciate hearing funny shit on podcast, but seeing as there is a veritable smorgasboard of comedy podcast by professional comedians, I can get my funny fix elsewhere.

And even if I wanted to hear mma related humor there is still mma scraps show that is pretty funny in its own rights, I can always chuckle at breen having a caniption fit over callers trying to re invent the wheel in regards to to 10 point must system. Fightlinker still has its moments hearing jake talk about striking or how many times he will say “just putting that out there” is always a source of hilarity for me.

Ryans “you don’t understand the negro” line on the last mailbag show almost became my own personal motto. I just want consistant shows, and subo can provide that…even if he cuts out from time to time.

  • DJ ThunderElbows

I prefer recaps to lead-in shows, so if you cats wait until after the SF show I’ll be in heaven.

Hey BJ, it seems like you can just listen to any ole comedians podcast while listening to an MMA podcast if you need a fix that bad :)
