Have the floodgates opened?

Remember when the only people being moved over to the UFC from Strikeforce were superstars with potential UFC superfights on the horizon? Yeah, standards have slipped a little:

Maximo Blanco’s run in Strikeforce has come to an end after just one fight.

Blanco’s manager, Brian Butler-Au of SuckerPunch Entertainment, confirmed with MMAFighting.com on Wednesday that the Venezuelan fighter has been moved from the Strikeforce lightweight division to the UFC featherweight division effective immediately. No word just yet on when Blanco will debut in the UFC.

As Butler-Au put it, “145 looks like a better fit for Maxi,” who has never fought at featherweight before.

Whatever wall that exists for fighters still under the old Strikeforce contracts certainly doesn’t seem to affect any of the guys with newer Zuffa deals. I wonder how Showtime is feeling as their MMA product gets stripped for parts while ratings and attendance slides into oblivion?

strikeforce is just this broken down bleeding asshole.

Well I guess if he’s dropping to 145 that’s a different situation, since Strikeforce doesn’t have that division.  So it’s either force him to stay in SF at 155 or let him come to the UFC at 145.

penix that is the bad news. The good news is Ryan knows how to fix that!

^don’t be so hard on yourself.

Circumstance conspiring in his favour. The UFC needs more bodies at 145 and 135.

insert a picture of ryan that says “Fixes bleeding assholes. He’s such a nice guy.”
