Here’s where conflict of interest comes in

Y’all know that Fedor’s people have begun banging the drum to set up a July fight against Tim Sylvia. So far, there’s no contracts signed, and Monte Cox had this to say about the whole situation:

His [Tim Sylvia’s] manager, Monte Cox, would neither confirm nor deny that the bout had been agreed to, but said that his client has not signed to fight Emelianenko. He did add, however, “As Tim’s manager, I would certainly entertain the opportunity for him to fight Fedor.”

You know Cox has to be steaming pissed out the ears about this. He just signed Timmy to an unexclusive contract with Adrenaline and was most likely planning on using him for the proposed Adrenaline show in mid-June. Now all of a sudden those cocksucking Russians are back in the picture, potentially tying up Tim through the summer! So is Coxy going to do the right thing for his client and push the deal through or is he gonna act like it’s a square peg in a round hole so everything falls apart?

I have no doubt that Tim Sylvia wants this fight, but will his manager? If Tim loses (which Cox must understand is pretty likely), he loses a decent amount of value before Adrenaline even gets to use him once. This is the problem with non-exclusive contracts … you can’t control what happens to your stars outside your promotion. Add to that the fact that Cox has already agreed to pay Tim stupid money (300k per fight), and you really have to wonder if he’s going to help his new star fighter set Adrenaline up for another value loss.

Of course, maybe Cox thinks this is just great because he knows Tim will win! Yeah!

Okay, there’s your stupid joke for the post.

I think Tim Sylvia has an excellent chance of winning. Fedor has been on ‘ice’ too long and Sylvia not only has a bad habit of spoiling organization’s best laid plans he has also been improving…..

  • fightlinker

Truth be told, I agree and will actually be rooting for Sylvia just because i love drama and best laid plans getting destroyed. That’s why when GSP lost to Serra I actually giggled my ass off for like an hour. And then i cried.

  • garth

i ran around going “WHAT?” at the top of my lungs over and over, not like in-your-face but genuinely confused, like someone had played a prank on me.

  • dignan

Sylvia would get destroyed by Fedor. D-Stroyed. No chance.

  • garth

    here’s mmaontap counting chickens:

    dig that first sentence

  • scorchamatic

    sylvia’s gonna take this fight.

  • Jim Brown’s Long Lost Son

    Faydoor by rocked armbar

  • Accomando

gosh, sylvia looks like a fucking tool in that picture. I hate that swamp thing so much, but honestly, I hope he destroys fedor.

Also, I thought I heard back a while ago that Fedor actually kinda feared fighting sylvia?

  • RoB

Sylvia has like a “Im so gay and uncool but i cover it up by doing a lot of crazy things with my facial hair” look.

  • Jersey Tomato

Who do you think the dude is in the middle of the photo? My guess is it is either Monte Cox’s son or Tim Sylvia’s lover.

  • fightlinker

his head is so tiny between those other two

  • EdenMachine

    That’s the biggest tie-knot I have ever seen… ever… in my life… ever…

I ran around my livingroom screaming “oh my god” really fast over and over at Sera/GSP I

I hope Tim destroys Fedor but I’m sure Fedor will do some gay armbar like he always does. They should * Fedors name in all the rankings.

#1 Pound for Pound fighter in the world*.

*If you count winning by nothing but gay armbars as “fighting” when you’re a heavyweight

  • EdenMachine

“I ran around my livingroom screaming “oh my god” really fast over and over at Sera/GSP I”

Actually before I did that when Sera hit him with the first rocking-punch I stood straight up and ran backwards over the top of my sofa and pressed my back up against the wall to get as far away from the TV as I could but without being able to take my eyes off of the TV. My friends were cracking up at me.

  • Denton

Good point, Rob. And I’m pretty sure that if Tim did do the impossible and win against Fedor, the laws of physics would break down eventually causing the collapse of the universe. This is all theoretical of course since the possibility of Tim winning does not nor will it ever exist.

  • kentyman

    Since when are armbars “gay”?

  • P W

Can somebody please teach the guy in the middle how to tie a tie.

  • x5BoltMainx

$300k a fight? are you serious? they’re going to put all of their eggs into this basket & watch it fall apart. atleast they’ll have scramble eggs in the end.

  • Ted Dibiase

monte cox is a fat piece of shit. he made all his money off setting up shows that brought in crowds of 2,000-3,000 ppl and not paying the fighters. he lies to fighters and their coaches.

something bad will happen with this conflict of interest. dana white is a monte cox smoker but at least he quit being fighters’ managers when he became pres of ufc
