Hong Man Choi is under the knife

We were pretty skeptical when Hong Man Choi managed to weasel out of Korean military duty a while back due to the tumor on his pituitary gland. After all, this is the same guy who was cleared to fight two of the most dangerous men in combat sports – Fedor Emelianenko and Jerome LeBanner – back in December. But there were follow up reports that being gigantic actually was starting to cause Choi problems, with that pituitary adenoma thingy pressing up against his eyeball nerves and messing with his eyesight.

So today, Hong Man Choi has gone in for surgery to have his brain tumor dealt with. I’m not really sure how safe or dangerous the procedure is, but Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva already had it done and came out fine. So here’s hoping Choi comes out healthy – but not too healthy! We wouldn’t want him re-drafted into the military after all!

  • Hung Man Choi

I heard his pituitary gland is fine. He’s just been taking a lot of HGH since it’s super cheap in South Korea.

  • Carcass

Its called bitemporal hemianopia and its pretty common with pituitary tumours. For non-secretory adenomas its normally the first you know about them!
