Those forecasting the Hollywood failure of Gina Carano can suck it, because it looks like she may be on her way to crossing over. She’s already confirmed for John Stockwell’s female Taken movie In the Blood, and now rumors are swirling that she’ll be a part of Fa6t 6 Furio6, or Fast & Furious 6 for those of you who can’t read Hollywood hype marketing:
Director Justin Lin looks to have his sights set on another action star for his upcoming Fast & Furious 6. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that MMA fighter and Haywire star Gina Carano is up for a role in the May 24, 2013 release.
Produced by Neal Moritz, the franchise has grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide with the recent Fast Five having grossed nearly $600 million globally on its own.
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson are confirmed to be returning, though much of the supporting cast of the last film are likely as well. Details of the plot are currently few but Six, like Five, is expected to be a heist film.
Each F&F film gets progressively dumber than the last, an impressive feat considering where the series started off. Fast Five featured a heist plot so convoluted and stupid it could have been written by nine year olds, so I’m looking forward to whatever crack crime is planned this time. Paul Walker repos Fort Knox in a Pontiac Aztek (marketing synergy!) while Vin Diesel distracts the Rock with an intense sweaty flex-off. Gina Carano uses her Haywire-honed running skills to chase Token Asian Cast Member through Random Exotic Local, hopefully without a sportsbra this time. Fin.
