Despite putting on almost eight full rounds of incredible MMA action, Dan Henderson isn’t sure a third encounter with Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is in the cards.
Henderson, who finished Rua in Brazil Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 38, also won a decision over the former champion back in 2011.
“I don’t know about (a third meeting),” said Henderson, during the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show. “I didn’t think after the first one that we could do it any better. It couldn’t have been more exciting.
“This one was close to that one. Maybe we bring the best out of each other as far as excitement goes.”
Henderson snapped a three-fight losing skid with the win and made sure to let FS1 analyst Kenny Florian know he made the wrong prediction after.
“Kenny said I was going to get knocked out and you had it backwards,” he said. “Ken, don’t count the old man out.”
Getting his hand raised left him feeling “like a big weight is off me. I finally got rid of the bad year I had last year and can look forward to having a good one this year.”
