The Ultimate Fighter is having a rough season, what with the Friday night deathslot ratings and now the coaches fight falling apart. But maybe next season will be better. Maybe they’ll move the show to a night where people will actually watch TUF live … live instead of via DVR! And maybe they’ll do something unique! Well, unique in that they’ve only done it once before:
“People keep asking me about the comeback. It was a great season, and the craziest part of that whole season is Matt Serra wins it and actually wins the title; it was crazy. The answer is yeah, we’re looking to do a lot of different stuff now with (TUF 15) and that would be a fun one,” said UFC President Dana White in an interview with Fuel TV after this past weekend’s UFC on FOX 3 event.
I’m down for bringing in veterans, but maybe skip the comeback part? Maybe it’s just me, but I’d rather watch up and coming UFC fighters scrap their way through a tournament than a bunch of dudes we’ve watched wash out of the promotion before. There’s a lotta hungry guys already in the UFC’s lightweight division who’d love the exposure, I’m sure. Regardless, either would be a nice way to break up the monotony of 16 complete unknowns going through the usual TUF paces.
