Who says two wrongs don’t ever make a right? In response to Jay Larkin’s comments last week about the ground game being “gay foreplay”, Pramit over at Fight Ticker responded by asking aloud if all that brain cancer was making Larkin dumber. Feathers were ruffled and apologies were issues, with the latest coming from Larkin to clear up his original comment:
Whereas we understand and appreciate a good ground game, when fighters decide to do just enough to get a win with no awareness of or regard for the entertainment value, the crowd or their opponent, they do the sport, themselves and the business a great disservice. Therefore, my frustration with the particular fight in question led to the comment that you have taken offense with. I stand by my often-stated opinion that the sport needs more action and less rolling around on the ground needlessly to capture a greater audience. If someone is working a submission thats a part of the sport, but many times…and it was the case with this fight…the athlete was trying to buy time with inaction.
As to offending the gay community, if my comment offended anyone, for that I sincerely apologize. That was not my intent.
It’s a good think he apologized to the gays … it’s really quite ignorant to think that gay foreplay would be anywhere near as boring as the IFL is.
