Joe Son convicted of extreme evil

Joe Son, who we know either as a punchline due to the groin shots he absorbed during his UFC 4 loss to Keith Hackney or due to his appearance as Random Task in the movie “Austin Powers”, has been convicted in connection with a brutal rape case perpetrated in California in 1990 and is now facing 15 years to life in the slammer:

An actor who had a small part in the movie “Austin Powers” has been convicted of torture in connection with the 1990 Christmas Eve gang rape of a woman in Orange County. Joseph Hyungmin Son was found guilty Thursday of one felony count of torture in connection with the attack.

Son initially was charged with multiple sexual assault and kidnapping counts, but many of those charges were dropped in part because the statute of limitations had expired, according to Los Angeles station KTLA.

Prosecutors say Son and an accomplice pulled the victim into a car on Christmas Eve in 1990 and drove her toward Huntington Beach as they beat her with a gun and raped her.

No arrests were made in the case until Son’s DNA was submitted to a state database in 2008 in connection to an unrelated vandalism sentence.

Santiago Gaitan, 40, Son’s co-defendant, was arrested in 2009 after he was also linked to the assault. He pleaded guilty to multiple sex crimes in January 2011 and was sentenced to prison for 17 years and four months.

I would say that maybe the ” target=”_blank”>unanswered groin shots actually hit him in the brain, but he did this before the UFC existed and before we all got to laugh at his dragging a cross to the Octagon routine, his Speedos, or the term “Joe Son Do.” While it is nice that he made up with Keith Hackney and lists Hackney as a friend on his totally not creepy MySpace account, this is definitely not one of those questionable yes-a-17-year-old-CAN-really-give-consent sex crimes. On the contrary, this is one of those really scary jumping-out-of-the-bushes type dealies, including acts such as pistol rape and a possible conspiracy to commit murder:

During the attack, which took place at gunpoint, Son is alleged to have sexually assaulted the woman with the barrel of a loaded handgun before brutally and repeatedly raping her. Court documents show that Son and his accomplice, who was identified in 2009 as Santiago Gaitan, pushed the half-naked, beaten and battered victim out of the car she had been tortured in for several hours, telling her that her release was “their Christmas present to her.”

The crazy part is, he almost beat the rap because of the statute of limitations issue and because the case against him was heavily dependent on the testimony of his co-defendant. And it took some bullshit probation violation for a vandalism charge for him to even get caught by the DNA database at all.

Goodbye, Joe Son, we hardly knew ye. Yet even though we knew so little, it was way too fucking much.

when I first heard about this story a couple of years back, it completely erased any guilt I may ever have felt about laughing hysterically while Hackney beat the fuck out of Joe Son’ nutsack…

    He should’ve gotten the chair.

Thank Odin for Joe Son violating his parole.

…and the fact that someone can beat a rape charge (among other torture) because they didn’t get caught for 20 years is ridiculous. This is what is wrong with America’s legal system and I have no doubt that if Joe Son was a wealthy man he WOULD have beaten this charge due to a technicality.

17 years seems way too light for what he did. He should at least have to spend the number of years in prison that his victim had to spend knowing her attackers were walking free.

I saw a program on HBO a month or so ago about the NY Sex Crimes Unit, and how they were indicting DNA profiles (as opposed to known individuals) from rape cases that were about to hit the statute of limitations, so they would have more time to investigate and prosecute cold cases.  Not that it would have made a difference here.  In California the statute is 6 years, and DNA testing didn’t become widely available until 2000 or so.  They need to make a law that there is no statute of limitations in cases where DNA is involved.

She should get an hour with him in a room gag balled and tied to a table naked face down and legs apart. The only thing she is allowed to use is a billy bat and Vaseline with fine gravel in it. After that 10 to 15 seems appropriate.

    2 thoughts on this….

First, Hackney was obviously sent for retribution by god when he repeatedly punched jo-son in his worthless nuts.  How did Hackney know that jo-son was a rapist back in 94 and that he DESERVED to get repeatedly punched in the nuts?  Amazing when you really think about it.

Secondly, “Austin Powers” was a really popular movie, and one must assume the woman who was raped has seen it….. I wonder if she knew that the piece of shit playing “random task” was the same p.o.s. that raped her.  Pretty fucked up when you think about it.
