Who deserves the next shot at UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo? While the list of those who want the shot may be long, the list of those who are truly worthy is a short one. However, while Anthony Pettis and Chan Sung Jung were being offered cracks at the Brazilian perhaps too soon, someone who had earned “top featherweight contender” status was patiently waiting in the wings – WEC vet Ricardo Lamas. Well, on February 1, 2014, Lamas will get his turn, as he and Aldo will co-headline UFC 169 in Newark, N.J.
I caught up with Aldo while the champ was attending a press conference at Madison Square Garden in New York City. What does he think of Lamas as an opponent? What will his training be like? And if he wins, will Aldo once again jump into the crowd outside of the cage? Watch the video. Or don’t. I don’t care.
