Just in case

While MMA Weekly is claiming that the Karo Parisyan of today is no different from the Karo Parisyan that was kicking asses and taking names back in the day, it looks like the UFC is still concerned that the judoka might flake out on Saturday’s fight: has learned that there are concerns that Karo Parisyan will pull out of his upcoming bout against Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim at UFC 94: “St. Pierre vs. Penn 2″ at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Saturday night (Jan.31).

Accordingly, the promotion has opted to line up a “Plan B” just in case “The Heat” needs to get out of the kitchen less than 48 hours before fight night. Newcomer Rick Story is waiting in the wings, cutting weight and getting ready to make his Octagon debut against Kim if called upon.

It’d be interesting to know if the ‘concerns’ are related to the fact that Karo bugged out the last time he was set to fight, or if it’s because he is currently locked in a Vegas hotel room hiding under a cushion fort. This could be the UFC acting on warning signs or it could be Dong Hyun Kim’s management requesting a backup so he doesn’t get fucked over like Karo’s last opponent Yoshida did. Whatever the reason, here’s my question: will potential replacement Rick Story be weighing in at the weigh-ins, and are they gonna give him a locker room for the event even if Karo Parisyan shows up on fight night?
