K1 Dynamite out-freaks Yarennoka

(above: Bobby Ologun. I don’t get it either, but monkeys are cute!)

Well holy shit, what a day it’s been for news! Hot on the heels of Fedor vs Hong Man Choi, it’s now been announced that K1 Dynamite will feature Bob Sapp vs Bobby Ologun (who’s a comedian in Japan who’s whole shtick is to make fun of Japanese people with a really deep ‘black’ voice).

Bobby Ologun last stepped into the ring against Hong Man Choi for NYE2006 and got destroyed. We’ll see if he fares any better against Bob Sapp, who may or may not show up and may or may not train and may or may not care if he wins or loses. Long story short, there’s a 50/50 chance Sapp’s just fighting again because his bank account is tapped.

Adding Sapp/Ologun to a card that already features Minowaman vs Zulu and Melvin Manhoef vs a boxer makes K1 Dynamite the undisputed king of freakshows for this New Years Eve. Here’s the rest of the card:

Hero’s Rules ( 10 – 5 – Ex5 ):
Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Masakatsu Funaki
Melvin Manhoef vs. Yousuke Nishijima

Hero’s Rules ( 5 – 5 – 5 ):
Norifumi Yamamoto vs. Rani Yahya
Bob Sapp vs. Bobby Ologun
Kazuyuki Miyata vs. Joachim Hansen
Minowaman vs. Zulu

K-1 Rules ( 3 – 3 – 3 – Ex3 – Ex3 ):
Masato vs. Yong Soo Choi

K-1 Rules U-18 60 KG Tournament:
HIROYA (15) vs. Tsukasa Fuji (15)
Kenji Kubo (18) vs. Yudai (16)
HIROYA/Fuji vs. Kubo/Yudai

Rumored Fights:
Sergei Kharitonov vs. Mighty Mo

And I just want to say that Nightmare of Battle has to be the best source for reliable information on the Japanese scene. Japan is the land of ghosts and bullshit, and these guys do a great job of getting the facts straight and ignoring all the posturing and retardation that goes on over there.

  • koolpaw

Bobby Ologun is damn funny as always !!

  • godzillad

When Rani lost to Bebe he wasn’t world class to the fanboys, now that he is fighting Kid he is the second coming of Anderson Silva. Goddamn these IWC guys starting to watch MMA, they need to stay back on their shitty NWA and ROH forums.

  • Wu Tang

Ahhh, the japanese and their love for oddities…. I swear, would he be even booked if he wasnt dark skinned or had a deep voice? I think not! But mez thinks that linker has a chacne to make it big there, since hes from Canada and practices mma (hopefully for his fight vs Sam), which is an oddity onto itself! Cheers to your New fame in japan as a canadian mma chocolate shit eater, Cheers!

  • Asa

godzillad is just pissed because all his favorite jap fighters would get killed by LowKi

  • Cyrus

Again, you are uneducated. Bob Sapp is big fucking time in Japan, dude. That mother fucker’s made more money there than you’ll ever see. Ever. He might not give a shit, might not train, but the mother fucker ain’t broke. He’s ballin like a mother fucker.

  • nicklovesmma

Just because you (might have) made a shit load of money doesn’t mean you’re not broke; MC Hammer, anyone?

  • Wu Tang

Hes black and hes in japan… Come on! Hes goin to blow his money faster than one of those call girls can finish her hand job.

Bob Sapp, Bobby Ologun and Soko (to a lesser extent) are what some in North America would refer to as minstrels. They make money and gain fame by playing up every stereotype that the Japanese have for blacks and Africans. They are not far from the “Africa Man” comedy character that made more than a few appearances in Japan in the late 90s. (Africa Man was a Japanese comedian in black face, wearing a leopard skin tunic and a giant fucking bone in his hair. Many Japanese couldn’t understand why this angered not a few foreigners there.) Ologun made a name for himself by making funny mistakes in Japanese during Karakuri’s Funniest Japanese segment, a segment which asked foreigners to describe something and then pointed out their errors. Bobby and few other Africans became big hits and regulars by constantly playing up African stereotypes, such as having a monkey living in his house. Bob Sapp is the big, bad gorilla-type black man that scares and titillates at the same time. I have NO time for either of them.

  • ajadoniz

Hand jobs in Japan is like ordering a Bud Light at a Ritz. Am I off topic?

  • ttt

Ernesto Hoost in a japanese library

  • Josh Man

Are we to order some serious bukkake sessions instead?

  • Archivist

Isn’t posturing and retardation in the same sentence kinda of an oxymoron? Wichever way, it brought a smile all the same. Thanks for that.

  • fightlinker

Ah man, I love that Hoost video … i knew it was a fighter but couldn’t remember who. The ‘Bad Smell Cube’ part is the best. Watch the whole thing and you can’t help cracking up

    > constantly playing up African stereotypes, such as having a monkey living in his house

    Half right, Half WRONG.

This TV program shows the reactions of TV stars to the animals(mostly cute baby animals) which are not usually pets. Thats all.

Bobby always acts like goofy on TV but is a good fighter in the ring, trains hard in Koga(Gold medalist of Judo) dojo, and with kikuta. Fights with good strategies to “WIN”. although he doesnt have skills to finish lol.

The Card is not serious one, but Bobby is a serious athlete. i will just relax and watch Bobby`s “Issyo kenmei” fight. Bobby vs.Sapp fits for NYE, at least much beteer than Minowa vs. Zulu or Manhoef vs. Nishijima for me.

    Slapping Machine FTW!
