I don’t think Diaz would win, but I do think that it would be a super fun fight.
Even stupid potheads know that is the next fight to make. And the best payday Nick has available right now. Do it. Do it.
He’s more valuable against GSP if he beats someone like Hardy or Alves first. Give him a UFC highlight reel KO and then make some coin pointing out his one weakness as GSPs strength and Vice-Versa. Kablingy-ching.
diaz will lose that fight just like he’s lost to all the other wrestlers at 170
@ DJ – trying to “build” an already marketable fighter is old school SF bush league and tends to blow up in the promoters face (fedor much?), diaz could easily lose to either Hardy or Alves. I say skip the middle man and just give him the fight that people want to see
that IS Dana’s MO right?
Your schtick is old Clint. Get a new view. Mix it up. Be creative ya douche.
am i wrong? i just call it as i see it. He is a skinny guy who had a division made just for him since he cant make 155. look at his brother get man handled in canada. whens the last time he faced a good wrestler? EXC and strikeforce hand picked guys who fit his style.
Yer probably right; that Rogers decapitation probably didn’t get him any more over with the current North American fanbase on CBS. And I’m sure the UFC audience isn’t any bigger than it was when Diaz had the scramblewars with Diego and Parshnippian.
Smartassery aside, I actually do understand where you’re coming from. The Shields/Kampmann debacle is a good example of hype-killing due to misfire. I just find it unlikely they’d let a guy – even/especially a SF champion come in for a title shot with out an octagon tune-up.
Plus I want Hardy to trash talk Diaz. Just too much fun to be had.
