As my blogging compatriot Rodriguez mentioned, Dynamite has finally cemented it’s full lineup and it’s a whopper of an event including TWO intermissions. Fortunately for you and me, we’ll have eachother and the Fightlinker chat room to keep us entertained while the Saitama Superdome takes it’s pee and poo breaks. But I wanted to mention on the last fight added to the card, which will also be the first fight of the night: Minowaman vs Zimmerman.
Minowa is a classic PRIDE punching bag … he somehow fell into the shitty role of the ultimate underdog and constantly gets booked against much bigger and better opponents, leading to his 40-29 record including fights against 400 pound Zuluzinho, Mirko Crocop, Quinton Jackson, Semmy Schilt, Butterbean, and on and on ad nauseam. I’m pretty surprised he hasn’t been matched up against Hong Man Choi yet, but I’m sure that’s a fight in FEG’s backpocket for a rainy Korea event.
Errol Zimmerman is the K-1 World GP 2008 in Amsterdam tournament champion and has a kickboxing record of 76-8. He’s 6-3, 240 pounds, and his nickname is “The Bonecrusher”. As usual, here’s the narrative for the fight: Zimmerman has all the tools to axe kick Minowa through the ring canvas. Will Minowa survive and pull off a wacky pro wrestling influenced win, or will he flame out in spectacular fashion? Either way, the crowd wins on this one. Just don’t think too much about how this match is one step away from legalized assault.
