We’re finally starting to get word of what the UFC is planning for their 100th event – well, their 100th numbered event, which will actually be their 132nd event since they started in 1993. We’ve already mentioned that Dana pseudo-confirmed GSP vs Thiago Alves. Now here’s Fighters Only with the chatter on what’s up:
No other fighters have been announced for the card, but it is heavily rumoured that light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans will be on it.
Also rumoured to be appearing is Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson. If he can get past Keith Jardine at UFC 96, he will likely challenge Evans for the belt. If he cannot, the spot will probably go to Lyoto Machida, who is unbeaten in 14 fights but is decidedly unmarketable in comparison to Jackson.
According to Bloody Elbow, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping will also be facing off at UFC 100 following their time as opposing coaches on season nine of The Ultimate Fighter.
Two belts on the line is always great … usually when they do that it ends up being weak divisions like heavyweight and lightweight. This time we have the two top belts on the line: welterweight and light heavyweight. Add in a chance to see Michael Bisping get whupped by Dan Henderson and you’ve got the recipe for a fucking magical unicorn event.
