More UFC86 fights

More UFC86 fights are coming to light … earlier this week we got a trio of ATT guys added to the card and now there’s two more matches set up: Patrick Cote vs Ricardo Almeida and Corey Hill vs Justin Buchholz.

The Cote / Almeida bout is a smart one on the UFC’s part … they need more contenders to fight Anderson Silva and whoever takes this bout will be one fight away from facing the champ. Don’t be surprised if the winner of this bout takes on the winner of Franklin/Lutter for #1 contendership. Although if Franklin comes out of all that victorious, I dunno what happens then. Dude’s just gotta move up to Light Heavyweight after the Lutter fight. So long as Anderson Silva holds the belt, Franklin’s not doing anything at middleweight but fucking up Anderson Silva’s feeding schedule.

As for Hill vs Buchholz, they’re still treating Hill with kid’s gloves and giving him softballs to earn some more experience. I’d say Buchholz is about as easy as it gets in the UFC unless he learned how to not suck since losing to Matt Wiman at UFN12.

I don’t think either of them could take Franklin. I think that the UFC needs to create a special belt for Rich. It could be the 2nd place belt, or even the “Anderson’s Bitch” belt. They could give him a golf trophy and put a little MMA guy at the top or something. He needs to move weight classes. I still think he’s the one who could get closest to beating God…….I mean Silva.

I guess as a promoter, you just have to accept that you’ll probably be criticized for every match you make RE: upcoming talent.

opponents too easy, and you’re feeding them cans, too hard and you’re not building up your talent well enough. In Corey’s case, ESPECIALLY considering his record, I think Silva’s doing just fine.

So what if Franklin is the 2nd best Middleweight, that’s alright with me. There’s nothing wrong with being one step below Silva. Only age & injuries are going to derail that train.

I want to see Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson for that 2nd best belt.

    Henderson would win.

I pray the UFC doesn’t listen to you guys and stoops down to the Strikeforce lows of creating a completely meaningless secondary belt (although I think Strikeforce doesn’t even mention those things anymore, either…) ;)

Henderson/Franklin would be nice to see, though. The winner can return to 205 with at least some dignity and the loser is doomed to be publically humiliated and completely destroyed by the most holy Anderson until the end of time.
