Nick Diaz is conditionally retired

So remember that retirement thing Nick Diaz was talking about again after the Georges St Pierre fight? According to his lawyer, he’s sticking to it unless he gets a fight he doesn’t deserve at all:

Jonathan Tweedale, Nick Diaz’s legal rep. issued a statement to clear the air… sort of. Speaking on UFC Tonight, Ariel Helwani released the following information, direct from Tweedale:

“Right now Nick is retired, unless he gets rematch with Georges St-Pierre or the big Anderson Silva fight. Apparently if he doesn’t get those, he’s going to remain retired.”

Worth noting here is that this is coming from Nick Diaz’s legal team rather than Nick himself, which is somewhat more meaningful. It’s not an offhand quip in response to a question, but a carefully considered public statement of where he’s currently at in his career.

I generally like Nick Diaz but this Jonathan Tweedale dude sure makes him seem like a cunt. All legal threats and demands and other various asshat lawyer bullshit. Back in the day you’d never see Diaz send someone to battle for him, and if he did it would probably be some badass 5’2 Mexican named Wild Stuff that wouldn’t be filing no paperwork. And here we thought having someone who was not Nick Diaz handling Nick Diaz’s affairs would be a good thing…
