Nick Diaz threw in the towel for his little brother

One of the best moments from UFC on Fox 7 was Josh Thomson finishing Nate Diaz.  It had all of the right elements – a sweet head kick, some tidy ground and pound – but perhaps the most interesting part of the finish was Nate’s corner throwing in the towel as the referee was stopping the fight anyway.  But there’s more: according to Ariel Helwani, it was Nick Diaz who threw it.

We never see the towel thrown in MMA anyway so it’s curious that when we do see it, it’s from the 209 crew.  I just wasn’t aware that Nick had that many protective big brother instincts, what with Nick and Nate starting brawls at each other’s fights, weigh-ins and pressers, but maybe Nick has taken a softer approach to the sport while he’s been off swimming around in the ether of UFC purgatory

Nick Diaz is out of the game and Gilbert Melendez and Nate Diaz are out losing fights on FOX.  Have the Diaz bros lost their fire?  Is the Skrap Pack dead?  I guess we’ll have to wait and see what kind of shit the Diazes can start in a couple months when Jake Shields fights Tyron Woodley.

    Late stoppage. Fuck that ref.

^^Is that a joke? Good stoppage. Diaz is tough as hell & wasn’t unconcious. Thomson looked fantastic. I don’t remember ever being that impressed w/him. Diaz never got off. I wonder if he had a injury coming in b/c he was flat as hell.

The CG camp is close to having a worse record than the Blackzillians.

Looks like the fight was being stopped in 3 ways at once…ref stepping in, towel thrown, and it looks like Nate was tapping too.

Im with kvelertak… should have let him kill nate

Have they confirmed that Nick threw it and not some random fan? I was there and someone threw a towel into the cage during an earlier fight. It was right as the round was getting ready to start and Big John grabbed it and threw it out.

If you closely, Nate was taping with his right hand also.
