The MMA blogosphere has gone a little Lesnar crazy lately, asking repeatedly the question “Is Brock coming back, and when?” every day even though the exact same answer keeps on coming: We don’t know yet, we’ll know more next week. Sure, ‘next week’ keeps on becoming the week after, but now there’s word that there will be a press conference this week in Vegas regarding the situation. Or not. Who fucking knows when it comes to Brock Lesnar?
As for what will be said at this speculative press conference, everyone is pretty much assuming Brock will be back, and before the end of the year. Randy Couture is saying it. Brock’s coach Greg Nelson is saying it. But Heavy.com has someone else saying the exact opposite:
One source informed Heavy that Lesnar will be out for the rest of 2010 and will vacate the heavyweight championship at the press conference. The same source also indicated that Lesnar has experienced a drastic weight loss during his bout with diverticulitis and is currently under 220 pounds. While nothing is confirmed, the timetable for Lesnar’s return could ultimately depend on how long it takes him to get back to his normal weight of 290 pounds, and any setbacks with his illness could postpone it even further.
At this point I have no idea what’s going on. The fact that the press conference idea is flip-flopping could mean no one knows what Brock’s plans are yet or that they do but Brock has no interest in sitting down in front of the media to talk about his poop gut problems. It could also mean they’re saving the news until before UFC 109 and just stringing the media along. My bet is it’s a confused jumble of all three.
