Pat Barry Flexes His KO Power Inside Kickboxing Ring

Former UFC heavyweight Pat Barry returned to his roots this weekend, earning a first round knockout at the 2014 WKA North America Championships in Virginia over Ed Burris.

Instead of competing inside the Octagon with MMA rules, this win came in kickboxing.

Barry is now 15-5-1 in his kickboxing career and returns to the ring in May at Glory 16 on Spike TV.

You can see the finishing blow Barry struck vs. Burris in the video below:

Pat Barry Saves Trapped Female By Breaking Down A Door

In a story that rivals that of UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones playing the role of a superhero prior to his victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua three years ago, ex-UFC fighter Pat Barry saved a trapped woman inside a hotel bathroom.

Barry explained what went down on Twitter, and in typical “Hype or Die” fashion, only he can really explain it all.

Barry’s manager Brian Butler, confirmed the report, saying “Yup it’s true, Hype or Die was called upon by hotel staff to break down a hotel door to save a lady stuck in the bathroom for over an hour.”

Just another day in the life of Barry, who will make his kickboxing return later this year for Glory.

Anderson Silva Rules Out 2014 Return To Octagon

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has placed 2015 on his mind for a potential return to the Octagon – and that is only a chance.

Silva, who many inside the UFC have been touting for a possible fight yet this year, told Combate that, “This year is over for me.”

Last December, Silva suffered a broken leg while attempting a kick vs. Chris Weidman. He underwent surgery and has posted numerous updates in regards to his conditioning since.

“These rumors that I’ll fight at UFC 181 or any other event around that date aren’t true,” he said. “There’s a chance I’ll fight in the first half of 2015.”

Prior to attempting to win back the title from Weidman, Silva signed a 10-fight deal with the UFC. However, after initially stating plans to fulfill that contract, he is having second thoughts.

“I don’t see myself stopping, but I don’t know if I will fulfill my 10-fight contract,” he said. “My family has been asking me for years to stop fighting.

“They need to understand that this is what I love to do and that I need to have my time. My goal in the sport was to become a reference, and I’m achieving this.”

Silva, who will turn 39 next month, holds the UFC record for most successful title defenses at 10. He also won a UFC-best 16 fights in a row before falling to Weidman last July.
