The UFC invaded South Australia Saturday night, as UFC Fight Night 65 took place from the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, Australia.

In the main event, Stipe Miocic was utterly dominant in stopping Mark Hunt in the fifth round. Miocic, coming off a loss to Junior dos Santos, got back on track by landing 77-percent of his significant strikes and almost 400 total over four-plus rounds before forcing the ref to step in and end it.

Hunt never got on track, landing just 46 total strikes overall and throwing only 109 in the fight.

Robert Whittaker showed that he is a force to pay attention to at middleweight, stopping veteran Brad Tavares in just 44 seconds in the co-main event. The veteran of The Ultimate Fighter landed a left-hook that dropped him, followed with a second that signaled the end of the fight.

A pair of quick finishes left the Australian fans down in the dumps, as Sean O’Connell stopped Anthony Perosh and James Vick submitted Jake Matthews. O’Connell hammered Perosh with lefts and rights in earning his seventh first round stoppage.

For Vick, the win kept him unbeaten in his career and handed Matthews his first career loss.

To conclude the prelims, Dan Hooker stunned Hatsu Hioki with a second round head-kick, knocking out the Japanese fighter. Hooker earned his second Octagon victory, and the New Zealander made an impact in Adelaide and the featherweight division.

Kyle Noke scored a split decision over UFC newcomer Jonavin Webb in his first fight in over a year, while Sam Alvey picked up his third straight first round knockout when he finished Daniel Kelly. The loss was the first for Kelly in his MMA career.

Bec Rawlings brought another delight to the Aussie fans, scoring a rear-naked choke victory over Lisa Ellis in a battle of Ultimate Fighter 20 alums. Brad Scott topped Dylan Andrews with a guillotine in another meeting of TUF veterans.

Alex Chambers, a native of Australia, stunned Kailin Curran with a third round submission. Chambers was well behind after almost getting finished numerous times in the first two rounds, but locked up the armbar and earned the win.

Brendan O’Reilly claimed a decision over Vik Grujic and Ben Nguyen kicked off the night with a first round TKO of Alptekin Ozkilic, getting the finish with just a second left in the opening round.

Earning “Performance of the Night” bonuses were Whittaker, Chambers, Hooker and Vick. All four picked up an additional $50,000.
