Rashad Evans thinks Gustafsson shoulda kept that cut secret

Continuing to explore the revelation that a lot more fighters are stepping into the cage with fresh cuts than you thought, here’s Rashad Evans kinda sorta blaming Alexander Gustafsson for effing up Saturday’s main event:

Whenever you fight, whatever the case may be, you want to make sure you are the best that you can be going into the cage, but I mean, you have three stitches. You don’t have to tell the commission about it, you’re volunteering information that you shouldn’t be. I know guys that had stitches going into it and as long as they make it past the physical on Friday before the fight then they’re good to go, but I mean, three stitches?  Maybe it’s deeper or worse than it looks and he wouldn’t have been able to fight. I don’t know.

Maybe it’s a couple millimeters above his freaking eyeball, dude. Sure, I’m disappointed the main event features Some Swedish Guy instead of THE Swedish Guy, but this is a dangerous sport and it’s everyone’s responsibility to try and keep it as safe as possible. If that means we lose a couple of main events because it’s better to be safe than sorry, well that’s the price of not being a sketchy fly by night operation.

Well if you fight like Evans did the last time out a cut’s not a big concern.

Don’t go soft on me, Ryan. Cut above your eye for a main event fight in your home country, you Vaz that baby up and get into the cage. I don’t even think it’s worthy of debate.

Given the importance of the fight for Gus he probably should’ve went the Vitor route.

Idk when the UFC’s going to be back in Sweden but I imagine it’ll be awhile.
