You know how it goes – two fighters in the same weight class win on the same card and reporters can’t help but ask about them facing each other. It’s the matchmaking equivalent of ‘I love lamp’, and of course it happened with Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald. Here’s Robbie’s opinion of that:
“He’s a stud. He moves around really well, he’s strategic for sure. I don’t think anyone [can take a head kick from me] and I wonder if he [would like to find out]…. I’m not to worried about [if I fight him next]. I’m just going to go back to the drawing board and beat whoever is out there in front of me. I’m going to be ready to go, people are in trouble. Plain and simple.”
At least Robbie Lawler wouldn’t just stand there and let Rory coast. He’s one of those oldschool guys that goes out on his shield. Maybe not the best strategy for his long term health, but I don’t think he’d still be around to have this comeback if he had fought any other way.
