Is it just me, or has the WEC had a hard time with injuries / natural disasters fucking up cards lately? WEC 39 lost Carlos Condit, 40 had Brian Bowles bail on the main event, and 41 has just lost Rich Crunkilton, who was supposed to fight Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. Now some poor kid named James Krause is gonna step in, and while you never know who’s gonna pull a Paulo Thiago on fight night, it doesn’t seem likely when you check out the competition he’s faced in his career thus far.
The good news is that WEC 41 is still stacked to the tits with some pretty solid fights: Brown vs Faber 2, Jens Pulver vs Josh Grispi (the Pulver Career Death Watch is always interesting to me), Jose Aldo vs Leonard Garcia, and Manny Gamburyan’s WEC debut against John Franchi. As far as WEC cards go, it doesn’t get much better than that, which begs the question: what the fuck can they offer up if they’re gonna try to get the whole pay per view model off the ground?
