Wow, looks like it’s UK day here at Fightlinker. Here I was earlier today saying Marshall Zelaznik wasn’t allowed to wear the big boy pants and now he’s announcing a better TV deal for the UK than we get in the US and Canada:
There is no better place to be a UFC fan than the British Isles, according to UFC UK division president Marshall Zelaznik.
He made the comment after the UFC concluded a deal with cable broadcaster Setanta to show every UFC event live.
The deal sees Setanta become the exclusive broadcast partner of the UFC in the UK and Ireland and marks the first time that fans will be able to watch every UFC live as it happens.
“Ever since I starting coming to the UK in late 2006, fans have been asking me why they couldn’t see the big US fights live on British TV,” said Zelaznik.
“Well, now they can see every single live UFC event, whether it is the super-cards like UFC 86, 87 or 88, a special event like Anderson Silva v James Irvin on July 19, a UFC Fight Night card or the finale of the latest series of the Ultimate Fighter reality program.”
“If anything, the UK and Irish fans now have it even better than American fans, because they get every single UFC programme all on the same channel for a tenner a month.”
Meanwhile us schmucks over here are dishing out 50 bucks for every pay per view event. Boo-urns.
