Sounds like Chael gets dibs on the TUF coach fight winner

The UFC seems to have officially gone into Don’t Give a Shit mode with it’s TUF finale this weekend. No open workout, no press conference. Things with Spike have gotten so bad that those wanting to see UFC 140 prelims will have to dust off the ol rabbit ears and try to find the ION channel. So there’s probably not much support from them either. Dana White isn’t even breaking big fight news like he normally is. Here’s Chael implying what the future holds for him and whoever wins the coach fight this Saturday:

“I have no fight with Mark Munoz. My next fight will be based on, uh…I don’t know how much I can say, but I’ll be watching the TV Saturday night, put it that way.”

This all fits in with news we heard following UFC 139 that Anderson Silva would be out until next June. It also gives the Mayhem / Bisping fight some context – instead of just being a fight between two middle of the pack 185ers, it’s now a chance to fight for #1 contendership. Kinda cool, although lately it seems like the UFC is risking a lot of their big money fights (Chael / Andy, Rashad / Bones) in the name of keeping guys busy. After a year where the biggest fan complaint has been the big fights never materializing, perhaps that’s not the best gameplan?

In other words, winner of Bisping/Miller gets a 15-minute humping from Sonnen.

Between TUF, Fight Night, regular ppv events and now the Fox deal, the UFC is putting on so many events that they can not allow an injured guy to yank a healthy guy out of the rotation no matter how tantalizing the bout might be. Sonnen last fought in late October. To put Sonnen on the shelf for a June match up with Anderson Silva would not in the old days have been out of the question.

In the old days, putting Sonnen on an 8 month hiatus to ensure the summer bout with Silva would not have been a big deal. 8 months is a bit long, but not ridiculous.

So now Bispeng and Miller will fight in December with the winner facing Sonnen when? Assuming no big injuries or long suspensions, Sonnen could face the winner in April. But then the winner of the April bout has to fight Silva in June? There is just no way. So Silva will likely have to face some random middle weight in Brazil.

With this heavy duty production of events, expect to see more missed big fights, not less.

Sonnen vs. Pissbing for the undisputed UFC Douchebag Title. I would expect the fight build up to be entertaining leading up to that one. But I can’t possibly root for the count to win.

I hate the juiced-up cheating scumbag as much as anyone, but thanks to his doctor he finished Brian Stann pretty handily and Miller had absolutely nothing for him when he was testosterone-free back in the day.  I dunno if either of them can handle him and his prescriptions.

spitsbing would get wrestlefucked back to the dark ages. Poor miller would probably end similar to his fight with GSP. He might be a juicebag, but goddamn his biggest strength is that tenacity. just fundamental and tenacious. no flash, no sizzle. someone here mentioned it might be a mistake to have sonnen vs silva in brazil, and I second that. Just something about your new 185lb champion both being a HRT recipient AND getting torn apart in a riot seconds after claiming the belt just seems like a bad idea.

After Chael is done with Bisping he is going to put a beating on Roger’s wife.

Have you guys seen her? You would take a swing at her too.

Fun fact: Stann was Sonnen’s first finish since Kyacey Uscola (of TUF 11, now 22-20) back in 2007.  So against anyone with decent sub defence, it’s a safe bet that he’s going to decision.  Or getting subbed out himself.

As for Mayhem, those two fought way back in 2002 when they were both noobs, so that doesn’t mean shit anymore regardless of who won.

But I totally agree that Sonnen would wrestlefuck the shit out of either Bisping or Miller.

2 more reasons i hope mayhem wins saturday.

wouldn’t mind a stann-bisping fight down the pipe.

mayhem probably has (slightly) more (than nothing) for sonnen on the ground
