Strikeforce on NBC doing well, I guess

Up until this point, I’ve been watching MMA Payout’s reporting of Strikeforce’s NBC ratings and gone “Huh.” I had no idea if what they were pulling was considered good or not. But it seems like some people are happy with the ratings … here’s Strikeforce’s spin on the subject:

The .5 rating drawn by “Strikeforce on NBC” in the 18-34 year old male category beat the ratings of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on four of the five weeknights that the ABC show airs, and tied Kimmel’s ratings on the fifth night.   The Strikeforce program bested the ratings of “The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson” on all five weeknights and tied the Thursday and Friday night ratings of CBS’s “The Late Show With David Letterman” that week, in the same demographic group.

The overall viewership of “Strikeforce on NBC,” which airs immediately following “Poker After Dark” every Saturday night (check your local listings for show time), has increased by an astronomical 197%, from 319,000 to 949,000, including a 58% jump between the two most recently reported weeks (949,000 from 602,000).

I’m all happy for Strikeforce that they’re not failing horribly, but the only thing I really wanna know is how long until they get a less shitty timeslot that will allow me and other non crystal meth addicts to catch the show. I’m still kinda pissed that we’re on AFTER a poker show. Poker had it’s day and stalled out. Give the new hotness a better slot, damnit!

Wow, they’re not too far behind The Ultimate Fighter at this point (see; the April 30th episode of TUF had 1.2 million viewers). So much for the haters laughing and proclaiming it to be a failure, can you imagine if this show was in a decent time slot and actually got some network promotion behind it?

I am really surprised that Strikeforce did 949,000 viewers that late at night. NBC, PLEASE, air Strikeforce at an earlier time so I can’t help out with the ratings. The most that I’ve done to support this thing was watch the Strikeforce videos they had on their website. However I download the full episodes off the torrents as well.

how do you watch poker on TV… how is that in any way exciting?

  • garth

poker’s only exciting if you like at least one of the component aspects of it. for instance, if you enjoy sitting and maneuvering objects with your hands, bang, poker’s your game.

If you like to play Poker watching professionals do it can be quite entertaining. I don’t know about “exciting” but entertaining is definitely possible. Plus it can help you with your game.

Strikeforce at 11:30 on Friday nights would be nice.

Yes, please, a bit earlier. I have a DVR but most people I know don’t.
But yay for the success of the show! That’s encouraging.

The timeslot for this specific show probably isn’t going to change considering they basically bought a years worth of Sunday morning infomercial timeslots. I’d say it’s more likely that if the audience continues to grow, NBC could potentially let them air a full live event.
