According to Javier Mendez, surgery was a success for former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
Velasquez, who has went under the knife several times since his run atop the heavyweight division, was forced off UFC 207 and a rematch with Fabricio Werdum after the Nevada Athletic Commission pulled his fight license.
Mendez told MMA Fighting that Velasquez underwent his planned operation and all went as expected.
“He had successful surgery on Wednesday,” Mendez said. “It was a minor surgery so he was walking right away. Only thing he has to do is wait until the incision heals before he can start working out. (It’ll take) about one month or less for the cut to heal.”
No word yet on when Velasquez might return to action.
