T.J. Dillashaw Departs For Colorado-Based Fight Team

UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw became the first fighter to bring Octagon gold back to Team Alpha Male.

Now, Dillashaw will take his title and move on, as he has joined the Elevation Fight Team in Colorado, according to multiple sources.

Dillashaw (12-2) is set to defend his title against Dominick Cruz this January. He started training with Duane Ludwig – who left TAM and opened his own gym in Colorado – and claimed the UFC belt when he defeated Renan Barao.

Leister Bowling is the head coach at Elevation, but Dillashaw is expected to continue to work with Ludwig for striking. Others based out of the MusclePharm Sports Science Center and Research Institute in Denver are Matt Brown, Clay Guida, Neil Magny and Cat Zingano.

“The last six years at Team Alpha Male have been irreplaceable and my brothers there will forever be family to me,” Dillashaw told MMAFighting.com. “I thank each and every one of them for helping me along the way and being a part of this journey we’ve shared. This is not the end of being a part of the Team Alpha Male family, but a new chapter in my career.

“I will be spending my next full training camp with Elevation Fight Team as they’ve offered me an opportunity that I couldn’t pass up, with an incredible coaching staff and state-of-the-art facilities.”

Dillashaw, a former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter, was the center of friction between Ludwig and Team Alpha Male founder Urijah Faber. Ludwig and Faber have gone back-and-forth in the media, hurling accusations at one another.
