When I first heard about a possible Tank Abbott vs Scott Ferrozzo rematch, I tried to make a post about it on Fightlinker. After all, their first fight at UFC 11 was so amazing! It was basically 15 minutes of Tank holding onto the fence while Scott tried to pry him off it. If you ever wondered where the ‘No holding onto the cage’ rule came from, it was from that fight – just one of several rules added by the UFC on account of Mr Abbott.
But when I tried to get the skinny on the fight, it seemed pretty vaporous. First it was going to be held at a strip club in Dayton. Then a warehouse. Then a different state. Different dates. Add in the fact that Ferrozo and Abbott have been jawing about a fight since 2002 and it seemed like this matchup was destined to go the way of Dada 5000 vs Kimbo Slice.
Shows what I know. Lo and behold, the two 46 years olds did fight … in someone’s backyard. You can watch the video above, and it’s just as exciting and dynamic as the circumstances make it out to be.
