Originally I kinda thought it was good news for Strikeforce when Nick Diaz no-showed their conference call a few days ago – it was promotion of a different sort. They got a bunch more headlines than they ever would have if Nick had shown up plus some really blistering stuff from Noons calling Diaz an unprofessional loser. But after hearing some of the gold offered up in this Showtime promo of the rematch, I take it all back. New rule: Nick Diaz needs to be mic’d ALL THE TIME.
“I really don’t wanna lose to this guy because he’s not important”
“I didn’t talk to the doctor, I didn’t talk to him and he didn’t talk to me. He barely looked at me and turned around and *whistle* “Fight’s over” and I’m going what the fuuuuuuck???”
“You won’t ever see me do the ‘eeeeeh, I won man, I won’ you know. I would just say hey look we gotta do it again obviously. I’m not a poor sport, but I’m just saying he didn’t win that.”
It’s embarrassing for me to sit there and take punches from a guy who isn’t important”
If the quality of the promo looks head and shoulders above what Showtime normally puts into it’s Strikeforce stuff, that’s because it is – this series is being put together by Esther and Casey from AllElbows. MMA Payout wraps up why that’s so awesome:
AllElbows has been around the MMA industry for quite some time, making a splash years ago for ProElite (EliteXC) and has worked with various MMA promotions such as UFC, EliteXC, Shark Fights, and Strikeforce to name a few. Lendon and Lin’s work is highly regarded within the industry and Strikeforce’s decision to get them closer integrated to the promotional side of the business is a great move to aid an area that was lacking and criticized in the past by the fans and media.
Huzzah for doing things right! Huzzah! Huzzah!
